4.7 Text Wrap and Illustrations

What I learned in chapter 4 Word was how text wrap is your best friend when it comes to inserting pictures on to Word. Learning about text wrap gave me more option to be creative when I need to create a flyer for work. I can insert a picture and make it look nice and centered or have text around it. What I also learned was how to add a title to a picture. I found that very interesting. This chapter definitely showed me the tools needed to be more creative.

Introspection

IS 101 has definitely changed from when I first took it a couple of years ago. Even though I withdrew from the class two weeks after, I can still tell the difference. Professor Wu is definitely more engage with the students and we are learning more then just informational systems. This class definitely requires a lot of work and commitment, which is something we are learning here in class that we can apply to our life's.

IT Career Facts

    What I have learned from chapter 2 is how popular IT career are and how important they are as well. Major business use some kind of program and like everything in life it is not perfect. There will be hiccups and well they will need the help to get through it. That is where IT personnel come in to help. I find it interesting how IT is more then just assisting when something is wrong but also help build and program systems. An IT career seems to be the future. 

Pro Bowl 2022

    This week I wanted to blog about my Pro Bowl experience. My younger brother and I were lucky enough to go to the Pro Bowl 2022 at Allegiant Stadium. I have never gone to a professional football game before. It was my first time going to Allegiant Stadium and man I was impress overall of the stadium. The game was a different story. It seem like they were not really playing football more like tag football. I guess they did not want the players to get injured for the next season. I still had a good time though not counting the rude Raider fans. Still, I got to see players from my team the New England Patriots. I know they will be playing the Raider next season. I will definitely be going to that game.

Encryption and Authentication

     One thing I learn from the first chapter was in section 1.4.12, where it talked about encryption and authentication. What I learned is how encryption is use to delay third parties to try and steal your information. There are different ways to protect yourself, one is to protect your Wi-Fi by using WPA2 (Wi-Fi Protected Access 2). This is the latest encryption method for Wi-Fi and to make sure your modem has the latest firmware update. Another way is to check your website address. Make sure that when inputting sensitive information the website has is HTTPS and not just HTTP as HTTPS has the encryption which makes it more difficult for hackers to hack. Lastly make sure your authentication is safe. Criminals will do what they can to try to obtain your user names and passwords. Make sure you use safe authentication practices such as having a strong password, not using the same password for everything and do not share your password.

Loosing A Pet

     For my second blog I am going to blog about the lost of my first pet. I recently lost my dog on Christmas Day 2021. He was a Pitbull mix, named Max. He was our first family dog. He was a senior dog he was 14 years old, which if the saying is true one human year is seven in dog years he was old. We had gotten him from a family friend when he was just a puppy. My dad had always had a rule of no dogs so we brought him home in secret. I remember when my dad got home from work he was in shocked and bit mad but he ended up letting us keep him. 

    The day he passed it affected all my family but it affected me the most. He meant something to someone. He was a work out buddy to my brother and sister. He was companion to my dad when he would work outside. For me he was a companion and he taught me responsibility. It was hard loosing him. To be honest I never thought it would hurt so much to lose a pet. I was lucky enough to have friends who have gone through something similar and they helped me get through it. There are days when I still miss him, and wonder if I will be ready to find another companion. Only time will tell.  

Spring Semester 2022

    Well spring semester has arrived at CSN. With it only been a week I am no short of work. IS101 is my class that so far has given me some work. It is a good thing I only take two classes a semester. Two classes is my limit as I do not want to overwhelm myself with school and work. My second class will also be a busy class as it seems I registered to an eight-week course, oops. Its ok though my job prepared me for this and my time management skills. This semester will definitely a semester where my time management skills will be tested. 

    Even though I will have a busy schedule in order to keep up with assignments, I am really looking forward towards the semester. I am looking forward to meeting new people. As for IS101 class, I am looking forward to expanding my computer and Microsoft Office skills. I am sure anything taken from this class will help me out in my future career. For now lets see what the spring semester brings.
